“Gangs of New York” is a gripping tale of the power struggles and bloodshed that took place in the city in 1846. The story revolves around the clash between two gangs, The Nativists led by William Cutting aka Bill The Butcher (Daniel Day-Lewis), a born and bred New Yorker, and the Dead Rabbits, an Irish Catholic gang led by the charismatic ‘Priest’ Vallon (Liam Neeson), who had immigrated to America.
The two gangs fought with every weapon they had, including knives, swords, and fists, leaving a trail of death and destruction in their wake. The final showdown resulted in the victory of Bill The Butcher, who massacred Priest Vallon in cold blood and seized control of the East Side of Manhattan.
Sixteen years later, Amsterdam Vallon (Leonardo DiCaprio), the son of Priest Vallon, returns to New York and sets out to avenge his father’s death.
